A little Friday afternoon metal to finish up the work week.
Hear it all on iTunes or CDBaby.
Heavy Metal songs written by Chris Cates for 365 Songs for 2010.
Here’s my quick Gringo Rock! post for the day. This one is about a juvenile delinquent that is terrorizing the town. Not unlike myself and friends when we were reckless youths. Thanks for listening!
To hear the full album go to my CDBaby Page or iTunes.
Still snowed in and posting songs from my latest project called Gringo Rock! This one is yet another funny one about a guy that has such a good time living it’s been a little bad for his liver. Funny how the two don’t agree with each other sometimes.
To listen to the full album go to my CDBaby Page or go to iTunes.
Track four on Gringo Rock! asks the question “what would King Diamond do, if he and Method Man were in the same room?”. A poignant query I know. This song is another funny one about a long haired heavy metal guy that wears a khaki suit like the 90’s rappers and listens to Geto Boyz and Old Ice Cube while asking the age old question “what would Tom Araya say, if I asked to join Slayer as their new DJ?”
I take the silliness up a notch on this one! “That’s Bad Ass”!!!
Track two is a funny one (of course) about a guy that likes to drink beer and fight. Quite the opposite of myself but good hard rocking song material no doubt.
Since I’m snowed in in a hotel in the middle of nowhere, I may as well debut my new 20 song Heavy Metal album a week early!! I put it together over the Christmas break and am excited to break into a new genre. I say “heavy metal” but it’s really my version of that term, meaning lots of funny songs and things get a little funky from time to time.
I’m playing all of the instruments, mostly in one take, which is my excuse for the sloppiness on occasion. “The Best Offense is a Bad Defense” is the first song on the album and sets the tone for the rocking 20 song onslaught that continues thereafter virtually without a break.
The album is available at my Chris Cates CDBaby Artist Page for now and songs are up on iTunes but the complete album is not up yet. It will all be on iTunes, spotify, rhapsody etc. very soon.
Let me know what you think!
Here’s a ‘math rock’ song for the afternoon. Thanks for listening!
Where the hell are my keys. I’ve gotta go, I’ve gotta go!
