Slow Beach Music

I’ve got a few hundred songs online streaming and for sale but for some reason this one song has been lapping them all lately as far as how many times it has been streamed and bought.  “Slow Beach Music”, from my Carolina Songs album, is about the last song the band is playing in the bar at 2am.  You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.  Thanks for listening!  #beachmusic #shagsongs

Beach Beat

In lieu of my Dad’s birthday yesterday, I thought I’d post one of my #shag songs I wrote about him.  In this tune, I tried to simulate the 50’s style blues beat that he loves to dance to.  “Old rubber legs Jim is on the loose again”.   “Beach Beat” is one of several #beachmusic songs featuring Chris Singleton, Jason Peeler and John Kell on my #CarolinaSongs album.

Carolina Songs

My tribute album to the mountains and the beach of my home state of North Carolina.  It has a mixture of my mountain folk funk and “beach music” songs based on my Dad’s shag dancing expertise.

Featuring the MasterPlan, Chris Singleton, Jason Peeler and John Kell with backing vocals by Corrina Cassanova, Adair Cates and Neil Laurence.

Boogie in the Mountains. January 10th

The snow followed me to the ATL.  We’ve got about 4 inches here today!  This week is also the start of the Mid Winter Boogie for the shaggers in Myrtle Beach wich made me think of today’s song.  “Boogie in the Mountains” is about shaggers dancing even though there’s snow on the ground.  Kind of appropriate for today, right?

September 4th “Carolina Beach Music”

Fall is officially showing it’s face up here in Asheville.  It was chilly this morning.   I played golf for the first time in months at Reems Creek, it was mighty fine.   Adair and I then went to the Biltmore Estate with our dog Mozart and walked around the grounds forever.  It’s nice to not be hot again.

I must have had all of that in mind last night when I wrote this song.  I’ve been meaning to do another ‘beachy’ song and I guess now must be the opportune time.   Thanks for listening!

March 17 “Living Life After the Fact”

Ah Springtime is finally almost here.   No more mornings working in sub-zero temperatures I hope.   The downside, now the sweating begins.

That must be why I seem to be writing themes with recuperative nature lately.  “Living Life After the Fact” is along that route.   It’s got a beachy old school vibe to it and I kept it simple  (for time reasons mainly).  This is really the kind of music I like doing a lot, I’m a big Donald Duck Dunn fan and love to write bass lines like his.

Feb 13 “Sooner or Later”

Snowed in again today.   The snow this year has been massive.   I hate it for all my friends in the golf industry.

Reem’s Creek, the course I play a lot has been closed for months.

Anyway, that has nothing to do with today’s song.  I actually wrote music for four songs, playing the drum parts and everything but this is the one I ended up putting words to.

“Sooner or Later” ended up being an old soul sounding song about getting someone who’s had their heart-broken, back out to meet people again.
