Today started out looking like a beautiful day. After raining for a few days it actually looked like spring was finally here. Then about eleven it became grey and cold again. Oh well. It was too wet to play golf today anyway.
“Daydream Sharing” is about lying around on a rainy day being lazy. This is actually the opposite of what I do on lazy days. I usually work extra hard in the studio on those days.

I can’t believe it’s been two months already!! Is it really March? I’m psyched that I’ve managed to write and record 59 songs during that time. It’s been easy at times and it’s been a real pisser a few times.
February was another snowy and cold month, which meant lots of interesting days doing curbside recycling. I had a pretty good time for the most part. And this song a day thing has forced me to itemize every second of my day. I’m left wondering however, when do my aching hands get a rest?
Ah the wind, the recycler’s nightmare. I’m glad I got done with my route before the so called ‘blizzard’ set in. Currently, it is snowing but the wind is breaking it up to a flurry.
Anyway, I bet you guessed correctly that the weather is what inspired today’s song. Actually something Roland Dierauf was saying on WNCW is probably what got it going on.
Anyway, I abided by my usual format of writing the first thing that comes to mind and this is what popped out. It’s pretty silly (which seems to be a trend). I channeled my inner Kool & the Gang for the chorus.

I can’t believe this is what came out today after an intense work day and the two hour commute. I even thought I was getting the flu this afternoon and by the time I sat down in front of the computer to start the song for the day I was not feeling real energetic.
I resisted the urge to go lay down which may have been for the night and grabbed the bass and started the song. I still don’t have my amp so I’m having to do things a little differently, luckily I like different. Now I’m feeling better but I am definitely ready for bed and was hoping to have come back out to the studio to finish the vocals way earlier.
I did manage to recruit Adair, PJ’s, Snuggie and all to come lend me some old school motown sounding backing vocals.
I’ve really been digging the dance stuff I’ve been doing so I continued that trend.
Welcome to Chris Cates.com. I'm an old school independent artist with lots of albums, songs, solar panels etc. This site tries to encapsulate what it is I've been doing since I played my first professional gig at 13. I post a song of the day occasionally from my somewhat excessive original song catalogue and I'm constantly recording new material when I'm not building solar farms, trying to play golf or tennis or taking care of my new twin girls.
