As a kid, those last few hours half asleep before getting up and opening presents was always an excited sleepy state. This instrumental is that final dreamy feeling before it’s finally time to wake the parents up and get the party started. Merry Christmas!!
What can I say, I’ve always been a dreamer. I’m in my mid-thirties and I’m still dreaming about my future. That’s kind of why I’ve been doing this song a day blog this year; so I can honestly say that I’ve put in the work to move forward with my songwriting and music career. I also wanted to test my sneaking suspicion that I had the capacity to create every day. Now if I could just create that massive fortune that I’ve been dreaming about. Thanks for listening!
I must be ready for a vacation. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I am going to a few places this summer but they’re a ways off. Today’s song is about getting out of town and names a few of my favorite places to go, Chicago, Vegas and San Diego. I’ll be going to Chicago next month actually, to play golf and see Iron Maiden in concert. Hopefully I’ll go up and see Phish again in August at Alpine Valley. Now it seems that I’m dreaming up new vacations when I haven’t actually gone on any of the ones I have planned yet.
My gig down the mountain got canceled last night so I spent a late night in the studio writing and recording. I haven’t done that in a while. I did manage to write and record guitar and bass parts for seven new songs. I’m trying to get ahead before my crazy work (and gig) week next week.
So now, I’ve got a bunch of songs to put words to, which is a great luxury to have. “Dreaming Through the Zig Zags” is by no means the best of the bunch from last night musically. It’s just the first one that came up when I sat down to write tonight.
It turned out pretty spacey with a lot of atmospheric delay on the vocals. I need to experiment as much as possible seeing as how I’ve got 300+ songs left to record this year.
The words are kind of a little motivational speech I’m telling myself to hang in there and keep dreaming big. Even if I am doing hard labor for a living.
Thanks for listening!! Hear “Dreaming Through the Zig Zags” below.
