Decatur Funk / Lionel Up!

I’ve been so busy I haven’t posted anything from my new instrumental electronic / hip hop album that came out in April.  Fresh Beet Suite is a collection of songs I composed on my Triton keyboard over the years.  I kept them very minimalist to keep the original charm and vibe of the times when they were written.

Some of the 30 songs were recorded in Athens, Lawrenceville, Morganton, Asheville and Atlanta.  Basically everywhere I’ve lived for the last fifteen years.   The album starts with “Decatur Funk”, a slow rolling hip hop beat, and quickly moves into the upbeat 80’s dance inspired “Lionel Up”.  From there it meanders through 27 more tracks that are basically all over the place in musical styles.

Thanks for listening!

October 1st “Cleaning Out the Room”

It’s crazy that it’s October already.  This year has flown by.   I remember daydreaming about only having six months left with this 365 songs project and now I’m only 3 months away from 2011.   It’s a good time to clean up and clean out.   We did that last weekend.   I’ve always been a hoarder undoubtedly.  Now I love to be free of so much clutter.   Although that is very much easier said than done.     Thanks for listening!

May 20th “Suite 2.0″

For about the last six months I’ve been mostly listening to classical music when I’m working or riding in the car.   I’ve heard everything else so many times that it’s refreshing to be constantly hearing new pieces of music that I rent from the library and hear on WDAV.    I’ll still listen to all kinds of stuff but old Vivaldi keeps calling me back.

That’s what inspired this one.   This is my keyboard classical composition.

May 11th “The Ultimate Feel Good”

I got to play in a golf tournament today and had a blast.   Golf is good stuff, I used to be obsessed but now I’ve managed to get it out of my habits.   That is to not to say that I still won’t write some funny golf songs now and then.

Tonight’s song ended up being simple.   I started to build on what I had going but my french horn (keyboard) solo rocked so hard that I had to leave it like it is.  Thanks for listening!
