I had a prolific weekend writing. I literally wrote at least part of sixteen songs. And I actually finished most of the recording for nine of them. I’m getting a head on my song a days. It’s always nice to have some extra songs for those days that it’s impossible to record. Also, instead of grinding it out until the last day, I want to have the last few weeks wrapped up. Mainly to prove to myself that I not only could do it, but that I could do it easily. Also, I’m ready to start my new album called “Follow the Feeling”. It was written October of ’09 but I’ve been sitting on it since I started this. I can say one thing now, I am committed to making music that’s for sure.
Over a foot of nice fluffy snow and a whole weekend to be snowed in. It’s nice to look out of the studio window and see it hanging from all of the trees outside. And I think it gave me a good photo to use as the album cover for January’s songs.
I will be putting out a cd every month with all of the songs. Look for the first one in about three weeks. I can’t believe it’s been 29 days already.
Anyway I wrote and recorded music to four songs today and so far have managed to put words to just this one.I’m also doing the guitar parts for our “Follow the Feeling” album too, so I’ve been switching back in forth between the two.
“Driving in two Directions” is kind of an analogy comparing driving to healthy relationships. The character in the song seems to always drive but never actually get there. I coaxed Adair into playing the keyboard parts on this one too. Thanks for listening!!
Still playing catch up with the songs but I had a fantastic day in the studio with Chris Singleton finishing all of the bass lines for our “Follow the Feeling” album.
We’re really excited about it. It’s a new sound for us, dance music/disco/synth/rock/party music. It’s actually an album that’s mainstream, maybe a first for me.
Anyway, today’s song “A Place Between Awake” is about my returning home late at night from my music/work endeavors that keep me away from home and my comfy bed with my wife.
I guess that’s a recurring theme this month, “Sleeping Sweetly” was kind of about this a little a week or so ago. But it was more about the cold weather than my sojourns.

Today is a joyous day, Jason Peeler came up and finished all of the drums on our new album “Follow the Feeling”. Now I’ve just got to do my work on guitars, vocals and keyboards and get Chris Singleton and John Kell here to do their parts and we’ll have it done.
Hopefully we can release it by March!
Today’s song takes me back to my elementary school days at Forest Hill. I still think about playing outside and down in the woods. I think I did actually marry a lucky girl in the 2nd grade, luckily we signed a pre-nup.
