Decatur Funk / Lionel Up!

I’ve been so busy I haven’t posted anything from my new instrumental electronic / hip hop album that came out in April.  Fresh Beet Suite is a collection of songs I composed on my Triton keyboard over the years.  I kept them very minimalist to keep the original charm and vibe of the times when they were written.

Some of the 30 songs were recorded in Athens, Lawrenceville, Morganton, Asheville and Atlanta.  Basically everywhere I’ve lived for the last fifteen years.   The album starts with “Decatur Funk”, a slow rolling hip hop beat, and quickly moves into the upbeat 80’s dance inspired “Lionel Up”.  From there it meanders through 27 more tracks that are basically all over the place in musical styles.

Vlade for Three!!!

I just moved back to lovely East Atlanta and am in the process of building my new studio. So I thought it might be appropriate to post songs from my album “Getaway Plans” this week and next. It was the album I made just before I left Athens in 2004 and released the night before I moved out of town. We had a fun CD release party for it at the Roadhouse.

This song (and several more on the album) features the great Dr. Andrej Kurti on violin.

August 11th “Slow Funk Jam”

I guess this is instrumental week because I don’t seem to have time for anything else.  Not only did I put in my normal eleven hour day with a two hour commute, I also got to be car salesman as I try to sell my old Volvo wagon.  That said, I really like this song!
