For about the last six months I’ve been mostly listening to classical music when I’m working or riding in the car. I’ve heard everything else so many times that it’s refreshing to be constantly hearing new pieces of music that I rent from the library and hear on WDAV. I’ll still listen to all kinds of stuff but old Vivaldi keeps calling me back.
That’s what inspired this one. This is my keyboard classical composition.
I got to play in a golf tournament today and had a blast. Golf is good stuff, I used to be obsessed but now I’ve managed to get it out of my habits. That is to not to say that I still won’t write some funny golf songs now and then.
Tonight’s song ended up being simple. I started to build on what I had going but my french horn (keyboard) solo rocked so hard that I had to leave it like it is. Thanks for listening!
As I mentioned in my last blog. I’m trying out a new keyboard for my live shows and I’ll admit my dream is to move to Vegas and perform house music. I love Kraftwerk and stuff like that. That’s probably where this jam came from.
This is half me and half MINIAK the keyboard I’m playing. I overdubbed a few more parts on the initial improvisational track. So for all of you up tempo house music fans this is for you. It gets your blood flowing.

I can’t believe I haven’t done more songs with my Triton. My Triton is a KORG keyboard that you can basically create anything you want with. I’ve had mine for about eight years and the buttons are literally worn off.
I’m a big NBA basketball fan as you may have noticed and tonight Kobe and the Lakers are playing while I’m working on this song. Great basketball is like great jazz, so I added a little jazzy guitar to the electronic sounds.
I’ll admit it, I’m a huge Kobe and Gasol fan.. And don’t even mention Ron Artest, the modern-day Rodman, one of the greatest personalities of our day and age. Don’t worry I pull for Lebron too. I know as a human being that I’m obligated to do that. The Lakers in 7.
Welcome to Chris Cates.com. I'm an old school independent artist with lots of albums, songs, solar panels etc. This site tries to encapsulate what it is I've been doing since I played my first professional gig at 13. I post a song of the day occasionally from my somewhat excessive original song catalogue and I'm constantly recording new material when I'm not building solar farms, trying to play golf or tennis or taking care of my new twin girls.
