One of my happy songs hasn’t come out in a while, so I guess I was due. I actually wrote totally different words to this one but after I played the drum part, I just wasn’t feeling them. This was the next batch of words I wrote for it and it seems to fit a little better. I probably should have written a song about Shaq going to the Celtics. Shouldawouldacoulda.
They always talk about the little black dress in magazines, movies etc. It’s supposedly the go-to dress for the ladies.
I don’t hear any fellas complaining.
Alright, this song is up now. For some reason it didn’t post earlier.
July 21st is my Mom’s birthday! Happy Birthday Mom. She’s ahead of the technology curb now because she has an iPad . It’s pretty sweet.
“Healing Song” is unrelated to that. This is a song that speaks to someone who has just gone through a break up.
I had a good friend who had a terrible loss this week. It was very heart wrenching and I’ve thought about him a lot. It made me re-examine the love I give and receive in life. I do a decent job (especially to the animals) but I know I can always do better. We don’t think about that enough as human beings.
That’s what inspired “No Limit on Love”. The chorus is one of my favorites so far “There is no limit on love, ask for as much as you want, you deserve it”.
What a brutal day on the old recycling truck. I made the mistake of not bringing water (opting for Hardee’s lemonade/tea mixture which was only desirable for the first 32 oz.’s). Needless to say, I was not in optimal condition. However, we got ‘r done, as we always do. We start new territory tomorrow, Lake James awaits. It will be sweet looking at some nice lake scenery while sorting plastic bottles and soup cans. I’m not averse to jumping in at some point during the route either. That was my trademark when I was a pool maintenance guy, I always had to jump in to test the product.
On a totally different note, “Love You” is a sweet love song touting the wonders of openness and frankness, two things that every relationship needs an injection of.
Thanks for listening!!
Our show at Pinehurst last night turned out to be a blast. We had some issues getting there and getting home but we made it safe and sound at least. Playing wedding gigs is always a lot of fun because it’s such a joyous occasion. I played mandolin on about ten songs which I haven’t done in years. Pinewild Country Club looked pretty nice and I’ve heard that it’s a good track as well.
Today’s song is based on an old song I wrote when I was a governer’s page in Raleigh one week back in high school. I remember spending most of my time reading Frank Zappa’s autobiography.
The tire exploded on the recycling truck yesterday afternoon, so it’s been an interesting week. We still managed to get to 220 houses in Hildebran today and pull in about 6000 pounds of stuff. The perfect background for me to come home and write an ambient love song right? This song is more of a mood piece than a normal vocal song. It’s meant to capture that feeling when you first fall in love.
I don’t know how this song popped up today. I guess I was thinking about Vegas. I love it there and I don’t gamble, I’ve tried to get Adair to move there but she’s not convinced.
And like the song, we did get married in Vegas and it was the best. It could not have been better. This song’s not about our experience exactly it’s talking about in more general poetic terms. Songwriter stuff, I guess. Anyway, real estate is super cheap in Vegas. Invest and let me know.
I’m gradually working on this site as I get a little more free time. Being able to listen to the songs here is much better. Anyway, it’s been nice to be at home, not traveling and being productive. I had a really good time writing and recording this one today.
This is one that just kind of flowed out. The punch line is “Love reigns supreme, It’s just that humans don’t believe it yet”
Thanks for listening!!
