July 31st “No Pay No Play”

We’ve been talking about how the new business model in today’s economy is to wow the consumer with great customer service.  Usually the places that do that well are successful.  It’s part of our DNA to want free stuff and to get as much as we can for nothing or at a huge discount.  I used to really thrive on that kind of thing when I was doing radio and getting a lot of perks.  Nowadays, I actually like to pay for what I get.  Maybe I’ve developed some kind of macho-economic money-mind-freak because of my general non-conformity or maybe it’s because I’ve conformed.  (probably the latter).

May 17th “The Things We Do for Money”

Monday again and back on the recycling boat.  Of course I made the mistake of spending my whole weekend building my massive fence, so I’m starting the week sore; which is not a good thing.    Oh  well, at least today I managed to work, drive 130 miles, go to the library, return my mower and get a new one, practice for my golf tournament this weekend in Georgia, mow the grass (with my new cordless mower), write this song and the song for tomorrow (because I’ll be out of town) and hang out with my lovely wife and our pets (and watch the Lakers).

For some reason money is the subject for the second day in a row.   Honestly, it’s not something that’s on my mind right now for the first time in my life.  This must be how I’m exorcising those demons.

March 13 “We Still Get By”

We all go through ups and downs in life.  Some tragic, some comic, some completely absent of all reason.   That’s just the way it goes I guess.   But no matter what we always seem to get by.

That happens financially too, no matter how broke you think you are, you still always seem to get by and maintain your normal standard of living.   I was just reading about the Russian planter aristocracy, they basically never had any money at all but still lived their whole life in extreme luxury, despite immense debt.   Mainly because they were used to that standard of living and mentally and psychically wouldn’t accept a compromise, whether they knew it or not.

Anyway, “We Still Get By” focuses more on getting by from a domestic standpoint.   Thanks for listening!!
