Our Love Will Show the Way

This is it, the last song on the album!  Thanks to everybody that has listened these last few weeks as I’ve been posting all 15 songs.  If you feel so inclined and feel like supporting independent music, pick up a physical copy at CDBaby or the mp3 album at iTunes.

It’s amazing that I’ve been an independent musician for over 25 years.  It’s been fun a lot of the times, a miserable struggle some of the time and completely rewarding most of the time.  I’ve made it this long so I guess I’m going to keep on, keeping on.  2015 should be a very productive year for me.  I’m almost finished with my instrumental ‘baby music’ album called “Music for Newborns” and I’ve got a ultra-funky classic dance album in the queue called “Super Fantastic”.

“Super Fantastic” will also continue my new collaboration with Ricky Rodriguez and Bomb House Recording, he will now be mixing my music leaving me to solely concentrate on recording.   Mixing has always been what holds me up and now I am finally handing over the reigns to a professional.

Okay, “Our Love Will Show the Way” is a quiet spiritual send out to “Life’s a Love Song”.  It’s very simple but has a wonderful message.  “Our love will show the way, it’s bright enough to light up, even the darkest day”, “Take all you wanna take, what’s mine is yours, things can be replaced, it’s worth the smile on your face”.

This album took a ton of hard work, especially since I was juggling three different major solar farm projects that were all three and a half hours a part.   But perseverance pays off and now I’ve got another music snapshot of my life for posterity.  I’m blessed to be able to make music and I appreciate all of the continued love and support for my blessing and my curse.  It’s hard to be a musician and have to work a “real job”.  I struggle with it mightily but you gotta do what you gotta do.  One day one of these records will hit the right spot and sell twenty thousand units and I’ll look back and laugh.

Thanks again.   Have a great day!

My Old Soul (Song for Today)

On this wonderful rainy day in this part of my life that has so many good and bad things happening, this song is speaking to me today.   I hope it speaks to you as well.

July 10th “You’ve Got a Life to Get it Right”

It’s that time of year again when my wife and I are questioning everything we’re doing and wondering if it’s time to move to a bigger market.  For our respective careers, western NC is not exactly the best.   We love it here for every other reason but is it holding us back?

Anyway, through the constant fears and speculation, I told my wife I’d write a song for her to feel better.   and here it is.    I haven’t written a motivational one in a while.   I hope it inspires you.

lyrics

May 19 “Sometimes You’ve got to Go and Get It”

Big week on the recycling boat once again.  But it’s over now and I’m heading to a golf tournament in Georgia.   I have barely played this year so I’m mainly going to have fun and to play some music with an old friend of mine.    I must admit, tonight’s came pretty fast and I recorded it as quickly.

Thanks for listening!

May 14th’s Song “It Might Be What You’re Looking For”

Well Lebron lost, as I said  yesterday, I hope he stays.  I was going to do a song about that today but it didn’t come out the way I wanted it to, so I arrived at this one.   Maybe I’m subconsciously speaking to Lebron in the song telling him to smile and get over it.     I think that’s why they lost.  They quit having fun.  That’s something we should never do.  Always have fun, even if things aren’t so great.   I know, better said than done.   At least it’s a nice thought.

 lyrics

April 22 “Pushing Through the Fog”

I made it through another week recycling.  This week was a killer for some reason.  I started out tired and that seemed to be the trend all week.   I barely had the energy to write this one tonight.  Especially after eating some Papa’s and Beer take out.

Today’s song is once again letting go of old things that are dragging you down.

lyrics

April 19th “Decision Precision”

I’ve been accused a few times about not being able to make a decision..  Mostly when it comes to which restaurant to go to, but there have been several times in my life where I honestly couldn’t decide which way to go.   and I usually chose the wrong way. That’s kind of what this song is about.  You can get in the habit of making bad decisions.   You really can.   But the good news is, you can also get in the habit of making the right decisions.     Thanks for listening!

April 17th “Good Energy”

Looking forward to my gig tonight.  We’re not playing as much this year which is good and bad.  It definitely makes it more intense when we finally get together.    The NBA Playoffs, my favorite time of year is also starting today.   I’m surprised I didn’t write a song about that.

Today’s song sprang from a conversation I had with a new author friend this morning.  I haven’t done one of these spiritual type songs in a while.  I guess I was due.

lyrics

Feb 10 “Something’s On the Way”

Windy again and once again the curbside recycler’s nightmare.  I was chasing papers all over the street in front of the Waldensian Bakery in Valdese today.  But you do what you have to do, the business is slowly growing and that’s always great to see.   Check out SimplyGreenRecycling.com if you haven’t already.

Today’s song is one of my uplifting motivational type songs.  My wife and I have a lot of irons in the fire and we’ve been both waiting to get over that next hump for quite a while.   But we both now realize that we also have to enjoy where we are.

That’s kind of what “Something’s on the way” is about.

Feb 1 “Karma Dharma”

This song is the direct descention from listening to a biographical analysis of “Buddha” on CD during my drive back up from Morganton to Asheville today.

It also seems like a good start to February.  I feel like I’m getting a whole new start with my songs.
