Today’s song is the title track from Getaway Plans Anniversary Remix. It’s a brooding number I wrote on piano featuring the great Andrej Kurti on violin. Thanks for listening!

This one has been my favorite song of mine for a few years now. I love the four on the floor bass drum and of the course major seventh chords that I have a proclivity for using. This happens to be one of my better drum performances too, I’m not a polished drummer these days so I’ll take any bright spots I can get.
The words are about change and looking ahead. I wrote this one when we were just starting to make a move. We were living in Asheville spinning our wheels and knew we had to make an upward move. Atlanta was not yet a sure thing, we were exploring all of our options (I of course wanted to move to Las Vegas which is not a practical family decision).
“What will we be doing in August and September, will we look back to this moment right now and remember”.
This song also has my favorite line I’ve written:
“The square root of Joy is Love, divided by two and it’s us, geometrically in perfect touch, we fit together like a glove”.
The song used to be called ‘Geometrically in Perfect Touch’ but since we had our twins and named one Joy, I had to change the name of the song to give her some props.
Silly rap rock anyone? This one is also from my “Mealtime Brown presents..” album. I wrote this one while driving a moving truck to Jefferson, Georgia to move my stuff out and into the first house I bought in Athens. How that pertains to the song, I don’t know. Thanks for listening!
Still snowed in at our house. Hopefully today’s the day we can get one of our cars out. Hopefully so, we’re supposed to load a moving truck and head out to Georgia on Thursday. Oh what to do in ‘Timeless Times like These’.
Today’s song is appropriate for my life right now. We are making a lot of changes. My wife has a new job out of town and I’m also about to start a new job in another town. What’s more, I’m leaving my beloved North Carolina and moving back to Georgia. This time to the ATL. It’s exciting but it’s also daunting. I love to change though, so I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for listening!!
I don’t know how this song popped up today. I guess I was thinking about Vegas. I love it there and I don’t gamble, I’ve tried to get Adair to move there but she’s not convinced.
And like the song, we did get married in Vegas and it was the best. It could not have been better. This song’s not about our experience exactly it’s talking about in more general poetic terms. Songwriter stuff, I guess. Anyway, real estate is super cheap in Vegas. Invest and let me know.
