Let’s start this week off with a fun jammer! Thanks for listening!

May 18th “Rest”
Today’s song is called “Rest” and I guess you could call it a fantasy on my part. My motto is “if I’m awake I’m working”. That’s basically how it has to be to get all of the things I do done. And I still don’t have quite the time I need. I sleep six hours a night which usually works out okay, it’s just that every few weeks I’ve got to really try and sleep a long time to catch up. But I usually just lay and bed and think about all of the stuff I need to do.. Oh well. I’ll live vicariously through this song.
I’ll post the song when I get back to Asheville Wednesday. Thanks for listening.
May 16th’s song “Debt Sounds Like Death”
I don’t know how I got off on the subject of debt. Probably because I’ve got a new Lowes card that I keep buying wood for my massive back yard fence. Actually, I’m in a place in my life where I’ve mentally moved away from worrying about money and mostly have good money thoughts these days. Not really because I’m making that much more money, more that I’m just in a better place. And without that pressure I’m feeling much better about making money and paying off my credit cards, until I run them up again.
April 30th “The Sands are Making Mountains”
I’ve enjoyed a weekend without a gig. I’m not playing much this month because next month I’m playing a lot of big gigs. It will be very nice to start the new gig season playing so many of my 365 Songs. I’m gonna start all my shows with “Geometrically in Perfect Touch” my favorite tune that I’ve written so far.
Today’s song is one that just came out when I sat down. I’m making a conscious effort to be out of the studio this weekend, so it’s nice to be productive when I’m here. My fence building has taken precedence so far.
April 20th “It is What it Isn’t”
I saw a ‘Git R Done’ sticker on a truck today and totally related to it. I left Asheville at 6am and got home at 8:30pm, but I got r done. I hit a hundred and nine houses with the recycling truck in Morganton and then hit a bunch of businesses to get a jump start on tomorrow. Amazingly I’m still feeling pretty good here near the midnight hour. But of course I better feel good, because I have to get “It is What it Isn’t”, today’s song up. Thanks for listening!
Feb 20 “I Like the Way it Looks But I Hate the Way it Shows”
I need to listen to my song from yesterday more and feel like I have more time in my day. I had a late gig last night and slept a little late which cut into my studio time today. As did that 18 holes at Reem’s Creek Golf Course where I fired a mid winter 73, maybe my best score in February to date.
Anyway, “I Like the Way it Looks But I Hate the Way it Shows” is a silly almost heavy metal number. I honestly meant to spend more time on the song but that’s just the way it goes I guess.
Feb 19 “Down to My Time and Place”
It’s been fifty days since I started my song a day project!! What a learning experience and an experiment in commitment I’ve endured. There’s definitely been some moments of excitement and of frustration but for the most part I’ve maintained a sense of joy doing it.
This last week has been a struggle but I’ll get back in the swing of things soon I’m sure. I’ve got a gig tonight with my band so that should get the juices flowing.
Fittingly this song is about how I was just complaining that I never had enough time to get all the things done that I want done. I really need about 22 hours in the studio a day to get all my various projects done. Adair was telling me I need to quit worrying about the time and start celebrating what I get done.
Feb 17 “Kind of Funny, But Not Really”
What do you do when a complete stranger falls down right in front of you and you want to laugh but you also don’t want to hurt their feelings. Or someone does or says something really embarrassing that they wish they could take back because it made everybody laugh.
That’s what “Kind of Funny, But Not Really” is about. What do you do when you’re really embarrassed except laugh along with everybody. Otherwise you’re just going to be pissed and then nothing will make you feel better.
America’s Funniest Home Videos created a monster I guess.

Feb 16 “A Discernible Glow”
Once again a majorly chilly day recycling house to house, this winter is one to remember. I enjoy the cold for the most part and have not complained about it because that would make me feel colder in the long run.
Anyway, today’s song is about the aura that some people project. Certain people have a glow around them when they enter a room. Whether this a psychic connection or just them projecting more energy than others is to be argued.
That’s the just of “A discernible Glow”. I think I ripped a riff off of another song of mine, I guess I’m plagiarizing myself.
Feb 11th “Always Remember to Always Remember”
Do you have that friend that remember’s every thing that you have ever done. Well I have a few and I’m really grateful for them. They’re always recounting tales of the olden days that I don’t have any recollection of whatsoever.
As soon as they bring it up it all comes flooding back in and I try to make note of it for future reference (which typically proves to be futile).
That’s the basis of “Always Remember to Always Remember”. This is dedicated to John Crowe, Rob Sankey and all my other friends that remember every day of their life. Cheers to you.
