I had to do a Black Friday song today. Mainly because it’s such a media phenomenon. The news loves to talk about it all the time. I am not of the Black Friday shopping persuasion. I’m more of a buy every present on Christmas Eve kind of guy. That seems to be what gets me in the Christmas spirit. Merry Black Friday!!
Being exposed to the news is almost inevitable these days. Open your laptop, turn on the TV, drive in the car. It’s always there. Unfortunately, life is a lot more positive when you don’t do any of those things. But who can resist. It’s like a never ending real life soap opera. What else are we all gonna talk about?
Today’s song is unique because I wrote it on the back of the recycling truck while Kristen Hampton filmed me yesterday for the WBTV News. I ended up getting home so late last night that I had to go a different route with my song of the day. And then to put a new kink into the mix, work kept me from driving back to Asheville tonight to record. So, tonight you may have to image what this grounding breaking and excessively deep (sic) song sounds like.
Today was a little different than the usual recycling route. Kristen Hampton from WBTV News met me at the recycling dump and then followed me on my recycling route to film a story about my song a day blog and about our recycling duties. She was great to work with and the piece came out really great. You can see it at
The tire exploded on the recycling truck yesterday afternoon, so it’s been an interesting week. We still managed to get to 220 houses in Hildebran today and pull in about 6000 pounds of stuff. The perfect background for me to come home and write an ambient love song right? This song is more of a mood piece than a normal vocal song. It’s meant to capture that feeling when you first fall in love.
