One summer in my teens, my friends and I lived in this old house out the country and had a blast. I had a studio set up with the same drums I’m still playing here today. I wrote tons of songs about the wonders we had around us and all of our shanigans. I always used to play this chorus back then but I never wrote a song to it. Until today. This transports me back to 1993. We were always waiting on Kelly to get back so we could go to the river.
I’m starting out the month of April rocking it out on the piano. This is a song I’ve messed with for a while but never sat down and finished it. Today, on the first day of a new month, I felt like getting it done and putting it out for posterity.
I love that about this song a day thing, I get to finish a few old scores with songs (no pun intended) and actually put them to bed and of my brain space. Believe me, I need as much brain space as I can get.
This song started back in my rap producer days. As you can see instead of rapping them I turned it around completely and played and sang solo on the piano. Thanks for listening!
Welcome to Chris Cates.com. I'm an old school independent artist with lots of albums, songs, solar panels etc. This site tries to encapsulate what it is I've been doing since I played my first professional gig at 13. I post a song of the day occasionally from my somewhat excessive original song catalogue and I'm constantly recording new material when I'm not building solar farms, trying to play golf or tennis or taking care of my new twin girls.
