An eventful uneventful day today. I took the puppy (Mozart) with me on my 110 mile commute which was a first. He hasn’t hit the recycling route yet, but hopefully someday.
I’m loving these Spring afternoons. I’m recording with the door open all the time. I just cut the mic down low and none of that noise even comes in. Kind of like the way I recorded every song this winter with the heater blasting in the background. Horray for Pro Tools.
Today’s is another one that just flowed out. I wrote all the words to nothing but a click track running at 128 Bpms. Then grabbed the guitar and changed them to 144 Bpms and we were off and running.
“You Know You’re Gonna Do it” is about how everybody pretty much makes up their mind about something the first second that the situation arises. Trust your intuition, it’ll save you a lot of headache in the end.
What a beautiful weekend. We got a new puppy this week and have enjoyed having him outside and walking down town in Asheville.
Our internet has been down, so I’m just getting back to posting again. I’ve got a few songs lined up and ready to go however.
Today’s song “Look for Hidden Meanings” is just what came out when I sat down to write. I’ve had a super busy work schedule, so I’m really looking forward to next weekend to really relax and make some relaxed music. Instead of frantically writing and recording. Anyway, thanks for listening!!
Welcome to Chris Cates.com. I'm an old school independent artist with lots of albums, songs, solar panels etc. This site tries to encapsulate what it is I've been doing since I played my first professional gig at 13. I post a song of the day occasionally from my somewhat excessive original song catalogue and I'm constantly recording new material when I'm not building solar farms, trying to play golf or tennis or taking care of my new twin girls.
