Amazing! We actually won our flight in the Good Times Invitational this weekend at Clayton, Georgia. My friend Will Clay and I played in the tournament and then provided the entertainment last night for the party. We had a great show last night doing almost as much comedy as we did tasty jams. Today, despite the fact I forgot my golf shoes, we grinded it out in an intense head to head match and won on the final hole. Despite the fact that I was playing very sub par to say the least (pardon the pun).
I wish today’s song would have reflected some of our triumph but as my late arrival back to NC dictates, I’m posting the song I had already recorded for today . Maybe I’ll relive it in a future song.
It must be time to get funky again because that’s what I’m doing. It’s so funny when I started doing the song a day thing, I envisioned recording a lot of acoustic songs because it is so much easier and faster to record. But in general, I have produced full band 16 to 24 track songs instead. I’m addicted to hearing a song develop with the extra instruments.
I rarely listen to any of the takes I do, so that when I hear the final thing, it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time.
Today’s funky song reminds me of a groove that my buddy Will Clay in Rabun, Georgia used to kick with his band Field Trip. The lyrics of the song are random ‘party lyrics’ that are based on my current habit of putting Louisiana Hot Sauce on everything (including sweet potatoes). What can I say I’m gourmet all the way. Thanks for listening!!!
Welcome to Chris Cates.com. I'm an old school independent artist with lots of albums, songs, solar panels etc. This site tries to encapsulate what it is I've been doing since I played my first professional gig at 13. I post a song of the day occasionally from my somewhat excessive original song catalogue and I'm constantly recording new material when I'm not building solar farms, trying to play golf or tennis or taking care of my new twin girls.
