Made it back to the ATL in one piece and figured I’d post another song to celebrate. I’m a little late on the timing of this one but I figured it would set the mood for the evening, looking out at the snow wherever you are. I wrote a song similar to this in Cone dorm at App. State back in the day and this is my re-imagined version where I tried to recapture that melancholy feeling of college life and it’s ever changing challenges. Little did I know real life after college only proves to be way more challenging. But it can be fun if you let it. Enjoy the snow!!
A few random snow flakes falling in Atlanta and I’m wondering where the last year has gone. And I’m wondering where the next year is going?
It’s supposed to get chilly down here in the ATL this weekend and last night at Mt. Mitchell Golf Course in Burnsville was pretty cold. I love this time of year. It made me think of this song today.
I originally wrote a song that was similar to this in Cone Dorm at Appalchian my junior year. I was obsessed with fall and the mountains back then. This version of the song was recorded last year during my song a day marathon. Although it’s not quite the same, I tried to use some of the feeling of the first song. Thanks for listening!
I hope everyone had a nice white Christmas. We’ve gotten a foot of snow in Asheville and it’s still snowing. I guess it’s only fitting, we started 2010 with lots of snow and I guess we’re going out like that. Today’s song is a jazzy number. Thanks for listening!
Today is supposed to be a little cooler so I figured I’d post this one. It’s about feeling Fall for the first time. I wrote a song that started like this, sophomore year at Appalachian State in Cone dorm, but I have no idea where it went from there. I’m sure I have a TDK with the 8-track Tascam version of that song somewhere. This version turned out pretty good. I captured my whole Neil Young and the Bluenotes tone that I used to love so much around that time. Thanks for listening!
I’m officially letting go of winter with this song. No more snow references or the wind or the temperature. It’s been a good winter to write about however. Hopefully that doesn’t mean it’s gonna be a summer to write about (weather related that is).
Anyway, I heard most of the ‘Sweet Baby James’ album by JT today recycling and that’s definitely what inspired this song style. I added the accordion to give it that french cafe ambiance that I’ve been longing for.
Day two in my quest to write a song and brief commentary every day of 2010.
I’ve had a rare Saturday off on a windy cold snowy day and have gotten to work in the studio all day.
I worked on “Let Out the Zoo” from my upcoming album ‘Follow the Feeling’ and then I wrote and recorded this one.
“Snow Day” is obviously inspired by the coveted snow day school cancellation each student and teacher anticipates each year.
All the instruments are one or two takes and I got to play Jason Peeler’s drums for the 2nd day in a row!
