July 21 “The Healing Song”

Alright, this song is up now.  For some reason it didn’t post earlier.

July 21st is my Mom’s birthday!  Happy Birthday Mom.  She’s ahead of the technology curb now because she has an iPad .  It’s pretty sweet.

“Healing Song” is unrelated to that.  This is a song that speaks to someone who has just gone through a break up.

June 1st “It’s in the Soup”

June is popping in a little funky.  I don’t know where this one came from but I kind of like it.   It kind of takes me back to my ‘Dre Days’ producing rap music in Athens, Georgia.    It’s funny I never really rapped ever even though I could have.  I actually feel kind of confident doing it now.  Probably because I can do anything to fill my song a day option and blame it on that.   I do seem to inflect a Doctor Dre type style to my raps however.    My calling card back in the day was that I always had an upright piano to add to the beat to give it a really signature sound.   This is all Korg Triton on this one though.

Thanks for listening!!

April 1st “Mad Crossover in D”

I’m starting out the month of April rocking it out on the piano.  This is a song I’ve messed with for a while but never sat down and finished it.  Today, on the first day of a new month, I felt like getting it done and putting it out for posterity.

I love that about this song a day thing, I get to finish a few old scores with songs (no pun intended) and actually put them to bed and of my brain space.   Believe me, I need as much brain space as I can get.

This song started back in my rap producer days.   As you can see instead of rapping them I turned it around completely and played and sang solo on the piano.   Thanks for listening!

Jan 17th “Pep Talk”

I went old school today and actually wrote in an old notebook of mine instead of on the computer.  What a trip to put pen to pad without actually touching my iPhone.

I found one of my little old carry arounds and as I sat down at the piano to write tonight a seperate page fell out.

Part of it turned into “Pep Talk”, I was feeling the key of F all day and the words seemed rather Key of F-like.  The song reminds me of all the old piano stuff I used to do and have gotten away from.  It’s awesome to be frequently writing again, even after working all day.

Thanks for listening!
